When people hear “Spanish tutoring,” they might picture worksheets, flashcards, and endless verb drills. But when you walk into one of my sessions—whether in person or online—you’ll quickly see it’s something else entirely.
For me, tutoring isn’t just about helping someone pass a test or memorize vocabulary. It’s about building confidence, fostering connection, and helping students feel seen, celebrated, and empowered through language.
After all, language is identity. It’s belonging. It’s storytelling. And for me, it’s deeply personal.
Language as a Bridge Between Worlds
I’ve lived a life shaped by three cultures—Mexico, the United States, and Spain. Raised in a bilingual, bicultural home in the U.S. by hardworking Mexican parents, I always knew Spanish wasn’t just a subject—it was a part of me.
It’s About More Than Grammar
Yes, we’ll absolutely work on grammar (I love a good subjunctive moment!), but we’ll also…
Because confidence grows in safe, joyful spaces—and that’s what I strive to create every time we meet.
A Family Affair
Later, when I studied at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, I didn’t just study Spanish and Linguistics—I lived it. I stayed with a host family who became my own, and to this day, I still text my “Spanish mom” every morning. Madrid and Sevilla are where my soul exhales. Spain is my “second first home.”
That’s the energy I bring to tutoring. It’s not about rigid rules—it’s about feeling the language, living it, and connecting with it at every level.
What Makes SayHolaNow Tutoring Different?
My tutoring style blends personal connection, cultural richness, and academic precision. I don’t use a one-size-fits-all approach. Each learner brings a unique story, and I honor that by designing sessions that meet their specific goals, interests, and learning styles.
Whether I’m working with a child who’s just starting to explore their bilingual identity, a high schooler prepping for AP Spanish, or an adult rediscovering the language of their ancestors, I always ask:
“What does Spanish mean to you?”
From there, we build a learning journey that feels rooted, relevant, and rewarding.
I’ve raised my daughter in a trilingual home—Spanish, English, and French. Today, she’s pursuing French and International Studies at the University of Miami, living proof that when language is part of your everyday life, it opens worlds.
We didn’t just study languages. We lived them. And that’s what I want for every student I tutor: to feel that language isn’t something outside of them—it’s something they can carry with pride and ease.
